Could there be a better way to pass time at the cabin during summer break than playing Molkky and consuming adult beverages (if you are of age of course)?  At MolkkyUSA.com we think not!  There is plenty of Summer left so get your Molkky game now and play before it gets to cold and snowy to do so.

One of the founding US importers Pat submitted this fun picture.  Not really sure what the source is, but these folks obviously love Molkky as much as we do!  I would post more but the weather is beautiful and I am headed outside to play Molkky all day.

Molkky World Championship Games

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Hey all of you Molkky enthusiasts, don’t forget to check the official website of the Molkky World Championship Games.

The games will be held in Lahti, Finland, August 18-19th.  Still time to register!  Your team could be the FIRST to represent USA in the great sport of Molkky.  Lots of other cool things to see and do in Lahti - I’m from there, I know!

A refresher for everyone about the rules, as there has been some confusion.  Have fun and keep knocking those skittles down!

How to play

1. Players: two or more
2. Place the numbered skittles (1-12) four meters away from the throwing spot in a close group
3. Draw the throwing order of the players
4. Each player throws the Mölkky skittle at the numbered skittles. Using only underarm throws.

If you knock one skittle down, your score is the number marked on the fallen skittle. If you knock more than one skittle down, your score is the total number of fallen skittles. E.g. if you knock 3 skittles down, your score is 3 points regardless of the numbers marked on the skittles. If you miss all the skittles three times in a row you are out of the game.

Before the turn goes to the next player, set all the skittles up in exactly the same place they fell. Do not move them. The winner is the player who first reaches exactly 50 points. If you score more than 50 points your score goes down to 25 points.

Warm weather and the long memorial day weekend combined for a great day of Molkky.  In the picture above a group of neighborhood boys ages 5-13 played and kept score on their own.

Send us pictures of your Molkky games and we will be happy to post them here.

Any Milwaukee, WI Molkky Players Out There?

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

I would like to get a Molkky mini-tournament together before a baseball game as a bit of a tailgate party at Miller Park. Perhaps the winning team would even win a couple Molkky games, hats, or t-shirts. Anyone interested? If so, shoot me an and we can start planning!

Molkky a Hit at Mayday Party

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Ulla a founding member of our import team attended a Mayday party hosted by the Boulder, CO Finlandia Foundation and sent the following e-mail to Pat another of our founding member of our import team:

Hi Pat,

went to our local Finlandia Foundation Mayday party on Sat and had great response to Molkky. They want us to supply several games to their midsummer bazaar up in Estes Park, CO, and also quite a few of the guests inquired about the games. Had 4 games, and people of all ages (9 – 75, I’d guess) played, all enjoyed themselves. Kind of funny, how the old English instructions do not say anything about the three strikes and you’re out rule, which I believe are included in the other languages. Will check that tonight. Very important part of the game…

Regards,

ulla

On independent reviews and new on-line reseller

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

We found a couple of independent sites that have reviewed Molkky in the USA.

First the folks over at yardgames.org wrote a nice review. While I agree the game does show wear pretty quickly I can tell you it does not hamper your ability to play the game.  Also, neither my children or I have ever gotten splinters. :)

Next, I found a quick review, but some other nice additional information over at tossinggames.com.  The even have a link to a pretty cool video.

Finally, we have a new on-line reseller in addition to qip.comTailgate Games also seems to have a nice offering of other outdoor type games.
